QUEJN SHOULD BE SCRUTINISED - MP
A select committee should be set up
to scrutinisj the Queen's civil
list payments, it has been claimed.
The chairman of the Commons Public
Accounts Committee, Robert Sheldon,
also wants it to consider whether
tXj Queen should pay income tax.
In 1990, Parliament agreed to give
the Royal Family £7.9 million
annually until 2001, based on
annual inflation of 7.5%.
With inflation falling, it was time
to re-examine funding of the Royal
Family, Mr Sheldon said.
